Here are some suggestions:

 

 

Why are Americans (not in Mass 2nd skinniest state in the Union) getting fat?

Does the same fate await the French?

This is a real "discovery" topic especially for critical thinking.

 

The difference between men and women from a French or American perspective.

 

Here there is an opportunity to look at literature. I think everyone would learn something.

 

On line debates: Like "Who has it easier Men or Women?"  "Is Global warming really our fault?" etc

Tech problems aside (e-mailing, chats, blogs, skype) this would be a lot of fun.

 

Co-create English French language quizzes and lessons with students working in "trans-Atlantic teams"

The advange here is that each team will be composed of both an expert (native speaker) and a learner

so they should come up interesting and fun exercises.

 

Discuss Politics 

This would be more controversial but should generate a lot conversation

Who would you vote for in the United States? Clinton, McCain, or Barack Obama? Partake in  this doodle survey.
